Day #5

Dad decided to take the day off so we head to Hanauma Bay for Try #2. Success!!! Of course, we left the house this time by 6:30 and there was some cloud cover that scared away most of the tourists til around lunch time when we left. I don't have pictures yet because I used Mom's disposable cameras. I was too scared that I'd drop my camera in the water when I tripped on coral or Gannon try to take a picture and it slips out of his hand. Anyway, Gannon was pretty happy finding broken off coral and all kinds of fish. I tried to entice him to put his head in the water so we can buy an underwater camera ~ it almost worked.

That afternoon, Mom took a half day so we met up at the house and went to the opposite side of the island to go to Polynesian Cultural Center! For those of you who have never been, it's a place that has several different villages and each one represents some part of Polynesia. Since we got there pretty late, we did get to see Samoa, ~ since my dad will be there on a mission trip in a couple of days ~ Aotearoa (aka New Zealand), and Fiji. We went on a boat tour, but missed the boat pageant which I always remembered as one of the best features. After asking Gannon about his experience, he said he loved everything about it! It seemed like Grant wasn't too sure of all of the "natives" walking around. He seemed to like the "tattoo" we got in Samoa. Gannon went a little crazy and got one in Samoa, Marquesas, and one more, I just can't remember where. My dad got one in Samoa too. If you look closely at the picture below, you can see their tatooes. Mom and I bowed out on this unique experience.
