I thought for sure Grant would have been ready to go. I mean, just look at the first two pictures! He as resting prior to the game and then checking out the goal, all smiles. When it came down to game time, we got nothing. A lot of the other parents were struggling too. But Grant played SoccerTots so I thought he would have dominated. Instead we battled to get him to even sit on the sideline - I finally had to drag him and leave him and coach had to keep him there. Can you believe it??? We were all frustrated and it was particularly hot and humid so no one was in the mood except for the other team...Anyway he finally got out on the field in the 3rd quarter and I bribed him - $3 or a Transformer. He took the latter. I took a quick video and since I can't post it here, please go to www.myspace.com/boyerboysintexas.
As for Gannon's game, they moved up to a bigger field where they have 7 players plus goalie on the field and played offsides. It was a definite wake up call for everyone. We didn't have any subs so everyone had to pace theirselves - which we don't have much endurance. We had to "travel" for our game and played with a neighboring soccer association. I am now finding out they are much tougher than our league. The kids had a "talk" with their coach after the game, it was much longer than normal. Monday's practice is going to be tough! Since the field was much larger and my camera doesn't have great zoom, all I ended up doing is taking video of Gannon playing goalie. For those of you that don't know, coach usually puts Gannon as goalie if we're winning or losing big. Can you guesss the reason why this time??? I'll post the short video on myspace. Gannon saved 5 out of 9 goals. The starting goalie had about the same percentage but had more shots on goal.
